A new year....a new post

School has started again. My knitting will probably pick up.  I find that I knit or crochet more when I am stressed.  While I was working on my doctoral comprehensive exams, I knitted three socks, a winter hat, and started a tie. Knitting is how I try to relax.
I am considering participating in a 5k run.  I will let y'all know what I decide. Someday I want to run a marathon. Maybe.

Done!

I have done it! I finished my sweater and have worn it 3 times now.  It sheds, a lot.  I am sure that it will eventually stop losing bunny hair. I have gotten many complements on it.  Many people are surprised I made it and that it does not look home made! Yeah for me.
I have already picked out the pattern for my next sweater.  Now, if I could just afford the yarn....

Only about 2 inches to knit and the body of my sweater will be done!  Maybe I will be able to have it completed in time to where it on Sunday.  I hope it turns out OK.

Here is a great tip - not related to knitting - Easy Off oven cleaner gets nail polish out of grout, off tile, and off the bathtub. I heard it also takes it out of fabric too.  I will let you know soon! :)

WOW, I have been knitting all weekend. I am working on the third skein of yarn and am about 1/2 way done with the body of my sweater. I am soooo excited. I think I will have it finished by the end of the week. Maybe I will be able to wear it to church on Sunday. The knitting of the body is mindless. I just knit stitch after stitch. I talk of the phone and watch tv. It is great.

I did work out. All that sitting on the couch is not good for my....(insert your own word here). I did Jillian's 30 day shred - workout 1- on Saturday and on Monday. Good for me!

Well friends, I have begun! Last night I cast on the stitches for my sweater and started knitting. I am just about done with the raglan part. Next I will begin the body. I am very excited about this sweater. I hope that I like it when I am finished!

Hello friends,

So, I have not yet cast on the stitches for my sweater, but I did create a gauge swatch. What is a gauge swatch? It is a knitted piece of fabric about 4in x 4in. With a ruler, I measure how many stitches are in one linear inch of knitting. This information will help me make the sweater just the right size. With the yarn I chose and knitting with US size 8 needles, I knit about 4.5 stitches an inch. Next I will take some measurements and do some calculations to find out exactly how many stitches I will need to cast on.
Welcome to my many adventures! I am sure that you will be very interested to read about all the fabulously wonderful activities I do.

I have decided to knit myself a sweater. I am a beginning knitter and have yet to attempt a project of this magnitude. I have faith in myself. I can do it!

To make the sweater I will use yarn from my stash. I have some lovely burgundy yarn that I purchased last year in New Zealand. It is a blend of Merino wool and Angora (bunny rabbit hair). I searched for and found a number of patterns online. Mainly I am going to use the one I found at http://www.woolworks.org/patterns/raglan.html. Tonight I will cast on my stitches and begin. Wish me luck!
